Even though four weeks is a long time, we do have a "somewhat" limited schedule, and we had to move on from the Williams' home in Venice. Janet, Chris and Kyle joined us for the afternoon and evening as we traveled southeast to Scott and Trish Shelton's home in Rancho Santa Margarita on Saturday afternoon. Some of us walked and some drove to a nearby pizzeria for dinner. Margarita and Barbecue Chicken pizzas are not typical for Chicago, but they were good and we had a great time.
An impromptu get-together at a neighbor's home included Trish's new recipe for s'mores: roasted marshmallows (over a table-top fire-pit), melted chocolate for dipping, finishing off with crushed graham crackers - pretty good! Not to be outdone, someone brought out "Peeps" for roasting - we dubbed them "Peep-brulee" - just a bit on the sweet side!
Sunday was kind of a quiet day - we enjoyed getting to know Andrew - what a great baby! (We may be a little prejudiced.) Trish and Linda went to a local farmers' market and picked up makings for dinner, including fresh seafood!
Our original plans had us leaving on Monday for Las Vegas, but with not too much coaxing, we decided to stay and visit and get to know Andrew a bit better. Again, Monday was a quiet day with a little shopping, sightseeing, and, of course, playing with Andrew. Scott and Trish were great hosts and we hope to get back to visit again (probably not by way of Canada), before Andrew grows up. With their advice, we booked a room at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas and left a bit sadly on Tuesday.
Scott, Trish and Andrew - thank you for a great visit!
Love to all,
Linda and Rick
