After a totally exhausting day yesterday I went for breakfast and knocked on the Day-Collets' door with no response. They arrived at the breakfast table 10 minutes later looking completely ashen and exhausted. It had been a legendary night in terms of sleep deprivation. By the sounds of things Addie and Milly had slept in the double bed with Carole on the camp bed and John in the chair with a towel as a blanket. Their faces did not paint a happy picture in the morning and by the looks of things they wouldn't appreciate it if I burst out in hysterics.

Anyway we went into Beechworth which was a fantastic little town. We visited a small church bookshop and John and I fought over the travel guides as usual before wandering down the compact high street to a somewhat legendary sweet shop with a militant 'NO PICTURES TO BE TAKEN' policy where all kids 'MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT'. After a ridiculously priced gobstopper we headed for the Ned Kelly museum and hung on to a tour for a bit as $20 a head didn't really seem worth it for a two room exhibition. After a bit of lunch we headed back to the car and headed for Melbourne. Just a short drive it was only a couple of hours before we reached Australia's second largest Metropolis. We settled in for the evening looking forward to our 5 day visit.
