We boarded the fast boat on 'Pulau Mabul' beach, most of the staff having said goodbye at some stage in the morning. The Malaysians are a really friendly people.

On the 45 minute fast trip back, we passed small boats out fishing from the stilt villages, where most of the people seemed to live. It started to rain on the way back and we arrived to a humid and cloudy 'Semporna'. There seemed to be a logistical mismatch of the people going to the town of 'Tawau' or its airport but we finally set off on the fifty mile country road, our return driver being just a little more cautious about overtaking anything in front of us.

At the airport it was the usual efficient scan before a busy check-in and security. As we waited in the departure lounge, a great bank of black cloud crossed the airfield but it was not until the grey, following cloud reached us that it poured down Langkah Syabas beach resort

. We thankfully boarded the plane from a passenger gantry streaming with water and took off into the rainstorm.

Cloud soon obscured any view and despite the Captain's warning of turbulence, we only experienced a few bounces on the trip before arriving back at 'Kota Kinabalu'. A driver was waiting for us and we returned to our resort for the third and final time.

Time to shower before supper, fried, locally made Camembert and a spicy prawn spaghetti. Norah had enormous lamb chops, all of which were again delicious.

Next morning was bright and sunny and we enjoyed a leisurely start and light breakfast, during which we saw a guy climbing a coconut tree, lopping off the fruit and throwing it down to his friends and then loading their car, presumably setting off to a local market. Good old private enterprise. Shaun the Sheep was still enjoying his holiday on the beach, occasionally walking over to the nearby stables to nick some hay.
