Entry for later update - cos we´re getting behind.

KEY LARGO
We set off north from Key West up Hwy 1, stopping off a couple of times to look at different sights, like the Pelicans and Cormorants which were lined up on the old bridges, drying off or just taking in the sun. Temperature was back in the high 70's and sunny. We stopped at the same hotel at Key Largo and had an easy afternoon, did some blog work - which is probably the last you've seen for some time as our 'Happy' laptop did not work in Key West and I just put it down to connection distance. Here it worked fine again. We phoned American Airlines to confirm our flight to Cancun in 2 days time and were told that there was no reservation for us! What - it's built in as scheduled on our round the world main ticket.  No - there is no reservation 7 mile bridge

. We are put through to another department, who investigate and tell us that as we did not take our scheduled flight from New Orleans to Miami (after the Amtrak delayed luggage fiasco), they have assumed that we do not need to leave Mami ('cos we never arrived in the first place!) We talk to another dept, explain why the NOLA to MIA flight was changed, that we are really here after all and can we now leave please. The spirit of Christmas prevails and they (re)book us on the flight. Is this interesting or what?

We continued with the blog and went for a 'take-home' or 'to go' as we internationals say, pizza and wine.  There was a scruffy liquor store nearby, oh well, they should have some cheap plonk. On entering this place the wine racks went way back into the store and after finding some 6 dollar Merlot - (listen, I'm on holiday, I can live a little, can't I?) - out of devilment I went looking for my favourite Spanish wine, that we had last seen in classy Los Angeles. I found my beloved Rioja and the 'Reservado' version AND the 'Grand Reservado' version.    God - I love this Country!!!!     I treated ourselves to just the 24$ 'Reservado' (come on - even I have some style?) and we found a 'Papa Ben's' pizza place and took our treasures back to the hotel. The pizza was the best I've ever tasted and did the wine full justice, although I don't know if I'll ever be allowed back into Spain if they find out what I ate with their 'Reservado'!!
