Okay so we are now focused on heading towards the Tanzanian border, we did not want to backtrack to Lusaka or into Malawie thus I was happy to receive a dodgy hand drawn map of a track heading north in our preferred direction. Rumour had it we could get to the border no problems.

Well to cut a fairly long story short its now four days later and we have popped out the other side. In summary the Shorty has not been out of 4WD the whole time, being completely lost is now a normal state of mind, the track did pass through a large number of villages, including right through a school yard, the Shorty parting the kids like Moses across the water, crossed two airstrips,  covered some of the most knarly bull dust and seen some of the most amazing scenery.  North Luangwa Park is renowned for its wild life and we were driving out still not having never seen wild lions, we had just resided ourselves to the fact that we were not destined to see lions in Africa. All of a sudden Lisa caught  sight of some Impala looking intently… then we saw them we could  not believe it.  We drove off the track and into the bush a little and came upon eight lionesses just laying under a tree.  We switched off the car, grabbed the binoculars and sat watching them watching us.  Talk about make the last four days slog worth the effort, we were stoked.
