Our original intention was to get straight from Cafayate to Mendoza in one day, but the Mother's Day bank holiday weekend put paid to those plans. All busses were full so the furtherst south we could get from Tucuman was La Rioja. La Rioja seemed nice enough but there didn't seem to be much there to do. We only stayed for the one day and had a deliberately lazy one, so perhaps we didn't give it a fair chance. DAILY FACTS - Stayed at: Pension 9 de Julio, cnr Copapio / Dalmacio Velez Sarsfield, Mendoza (Tel 03822 426955). Not bad deal. Had cable TV and was in a good location. Recommended.
