The only catch is that there's nothing there!

We came, we saw, we slept, we left.
We had heard from a few people in Salta that Cachi was the place to go. (it just so happens that those people were also trying to sell rides to Cachi... hmmmmm...)
Cachi is a little town that would be great to drive through and maybe stop for lunch. The scenery on the way is beautiful but there is NOTHING there! We thought we would head there, stay the night and then head on to Cafayate. On the map it seemed simple enough. Not the case, it turns out that the road between Cachi and Cafayate is too windy and small for busses so is only passable with a car. We have no car and therefore were stuck in Cachi overnight. We knew about these transport problems before we got there but thought that there must be away around them
We did manage to walk up to a view point to watch the sunset, but that's about all we did. Neither of us felt very well so we slept most of the afternoon. A long way to go for a snooze.
So it was back to the station next day to catch the early morning bus back to where we came from in order to head down to Cafayate. Not the best of planning but the first bad travel choice we have made so far, so just had to suck it up and enjoy the scenery on the 4.5 hour trip back to Salta.
DAILY FACTS
- Stayed at: Hotel Nevado de Cachi (Tel 0368 491912). Nice enough. Clean rooms and good showers. Right next to where the bus from Salta stops. Recommended.

01 - The viewpoint at Cachi
. We did try to track down a guy that had put up a poster saying he drives people through the road to Cafayate but had no luck. Probably a good thing...
