Nothing much to say about Oruro really. We got here via La Paz (didn't stop there either) yesterday and were lucky enough to get a ticket for the Expreso del Sur train straight out of Oruro to Uyuni today. We splashed out and sat in first class where you get films and coke.

The train journey itself was pretty featureless (as opposed to the "beautiful scenery" as described in the Lying Planet) except for the first half hour or so where the train tracks go right throught the centre of a very shallow lake, so it looks as if the train is gliding across the water. The train also kept interrupting flamingos while they were busy shrimp eating to get all pink. They kept taking off en masse; it was great to see them fly with those pink wings! Tara: I was going to take a picture but by the time I figured out how to open the train window they were all gone!

Steve has also got round to buying himself some new sunglasses (finally!) to replace the ones he lost in the Galapagos.

DAILY FACTS

- Stayed at: Hotel Samay Wasi - OK, but a bit expensive for what you get. About a 20 minute walk away from the town centre, but slap bang next to the bus station.

Wow!
It must be rubbish being you! Glad to see that you are having such a great time experiencing new cultures. When do your travels finish and your life in Canada begin?

Take care both! Sarah XX
