Pretty uneventful day except for the daft French people who were sitting in front of us on the flight from Houston to Quito. One woman had a ridiculously oversized piece of hand-luggage which wouldn't fit into the already full overhead lockers. She refused to put it under the seat in front and she refused to put it in the hold. We wouldn't have minded but this was actually delaying our already delayed flight even further. In the end, the hostess made someone else take their luggage down and put it under the seat in front of them so that this old bag could put her old bag into the overhead locker. How rude!
Steve: I hate seeing an injustice, me, so I took it upon myself to have a few diplomatic words with the lady concerned using my best schoolboy French.
Tara: If by "diplomatic words" you mean "shouting at her every French phrase that popped into your head", then yes that's what you did. I think you confused her especially with "the monkey is on the branch" and, my personal favourite, "the mouse is under the chair" I couldn't tell if her and her group were amused or mortified at spending the next 5 hours on the plane with a nutter!
Steve: Eddie Izzard fans will find my tirade strangely familiar. See "Dress to Kill"
DAILY FACTS
- Stayed at: L'Auberge Inn. Nice place to make your base for your time in Quito. Clean but basic rooms, internet in house and a big cheap breakfast. The "Full Vitamina" is fantastic. Recommended.
- Tip of the day - don't bother bringing a bottle of shampoo with you that can leak everywhere, get one of those solid shampoo bars. We are using the one from Lush.
