It must have been the Chinese take-out. We moved to Carlsbad State Park on a bluff overlooking the Pacific yesterday to save a few bucks (not many though, inland campsites are $25.00 per night - got to help Arnold balance the budget) and shortly after a good six mile run, dysentery set in in a big way. We're not even in Mexico yet and I can't drink the water. I won't share the unpleasant details but basically I spent most of Monday and early Tuesday on my sleeping bag in the fetal position wishing for a tsunami to put me out of my misery. Zoobley got some pretty short walks.
Late Tuesday I was sufficiently recovered to take Zoobley to the Drake Center for Animal Health in Encinitas to get her health certificate. The Drake Center definitely has the SoCal flavor; architecturally attractive, clean, and polished. Our dusty Toyota truck looked very out of place with the BMWs and Hummers but surprisingly their prices were very moderate compared to the other eight or ten clinics I had called earlier that day. The best feature of the clinic was that the vets were all young, female, and blond. I'm thinking that Zoobley is going to need some extensive veterinary attention when she returns from Baja!
