We woke up to ice on the windshield this morning and opted to stay a second day at the La Quinta in Las Cruces and take care of some frustrating business with my former employer. It seems that when I quit, nobody got around to telling the payroll department about my departure so they kept on paying me for a month and now, two months later, someone figured it out and wants their money back. Some days, you've got to wonder how corporate America manages to function.
Kudzu has finally settled into a daily routine which primarily revolves around sleep. She doesn't like the dark or the cold so when the sun goes down, she gets into her sky kennel and doesn't emerge until well after sun up. This means that as we approach the winter solstice she gets a good solid twelve hours of sleep each night. After some stretching and low groans we go for a long walk first thing in the morning and then she is good for at least another three hours of sleep. She has adapted very well to eating her breakfast in the truck as we careen down the Interstate at eighty miles per hour. Her food and water bowls sit as level as possible in the floorboard of the truck and she gets up every so often to have a little snack. A few short walks during the day and another long one just before sundown and the Zoobs is ready for bed. Not a bad life, huh?
