My cousin and I went to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame in Fort Worth today which was well worth the visit. Unfortunately, they don't allow cameras inside or I would share some photos of this very impressive facility. It's definitely worth a visit to www.cowgirl.net.

The ground floor included a multimedia display of all the inductees to the hall of fame such as Annie Oakley, Dale Evans, and Patsy Cline. Most of the inductees were working cowgirls, ranch managers, and ranch owners as opposed to entertainers and many were unexpected honorees such as Justice Sandra Day O'Connor who as it turns out was raised on a ranch. The second floor housed many exhibits including those exploring the contribution of the Western ethos to women's fashion, western women in film, the history of women in rodeo competition, and women's relationships with the land and ranching along with numerous artifacts from Annie Oakley's gun to Dale Evans' saddle. I've always had a thing for cowgirls from the girl-next-door backup singers in the old B westerns to Debra Winger's trashy Cissy in Urban Cowboy, so the National Cowgirl Museum was a real treat.

I haven't had an opportunity to visit with my cousin for several years, so the rest of the day was devoted to catching up, the details of which I won't bore you with. Zoobley was very happy to have a play pal in the form of eleven year old Bailey, my cousin's Boxer. So happy in fact that she immediately stole Bailey's comfortable bed in the den.
