After a frenzy of packing and running errands, Kudzu and I left Knoxville heading west around 2:00. For those of you who have not met her, Kudzu (her friends call her Zoobley) is a 4 1/2 year old Jack Russell Terrier who will be my constant companion on this trip. You will hear more about her and see lots of pictures later.
Our first stop was to drop off another dog, Thelma, at my former sister-in-law's house in Carthage, Tennessee. Carthage's only claim to fame is that it is the home of Cordell Hull who was Secretary of State to FDR during World War II. More importantly, it's the home of my two nephews whom I had not seem for some time so I got to spend some time playing football (which I don't know how to play), playing video games (which involved just punching buttons since I don't know how to play them either), reading stories, and helping with homework. Thus exhausted, Kudzu and I stayed with the boys for the night looking forward to starting our journey the next morning.
