Well, it does get windy sometimes around Lijiang, and even though there are hydro dams on the way on the Yangtse, along with some existing dams on tributaries, there are now plans to put in both solar and wind farms.

China Longyuan Electric Power Group Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of China Guodian Corporation, will invest RMB 4 billion in constructing a 400MW wind power plant in Lijiang, Yunnan province, in-en.com reports May 25. Construction of the plant will take 36 months, said the report.

Longyuan Electric Power Group will also participate in the development of photovoltaic power projects in Lijiang, said the report.
