Well, it hasn't rained for a while.
Nice fine sunny weather. Clear skies.
Ideal really. Not like winter in most places, where it rains.
And that's now a problem. It hasn't rained in Yunnan since November.
Forest fires are breaking about everywhere.
The other day a helicopter - a rare sight at 2400m - was seen with a monsoon bucket. Before that, a fire break was cleared up a hillside, it's twin lines flaring into the night.
It's been windy too. For the last two weeks, quite breezy. Makes me feel at home, coming from New Zealand.
And it seems fires have no passports. A four day fire crossed from Myanmar to China the other day. Quickly burning 60 ha of forest before anyone could say 'where's your visa for China'.
With the winds, there may be a weather change. Possibly snow, but it seems too warm and too dry for that to happen. But then again, this time last year snow covered lots of China . . .
