Known now as Guangzhou, but for many of us more familiar as Canton. This place is possibly the worst city on earth: hot, crowded, chaotic traffic gridlocks, locals whose normal mode of communication sounds like shouting . . . you get the picture.

Last year they had a beer festival, but despite having a flashy website, they don't seem to have updated it for this year.

To give you a flavour of the event, here was the announcement for last year:

First Guangzhou Beer Festival to be held
The 2005 Guangzhou Beer Festival will be held from July 9th to 17th in Tianhe Sports Stadium. Many famous domestic and foreign beer companies including the world's biggest beer manufacturer InBev, maker of Beck's and other internationally known beers, will take part in the festival. The gala will include exhibitions of beer products, a campus band contest, a Miss Beer competition, a drinking competition and a Karaoke competition. People can join in a series of events during the daytime for free. Evening ticket prices will be announced later.
