William Carlos Williams died more than 40 years ago, but the poet, novelist and doctor left one enduring work: an apology poem.
And as many writing students know, his false apology poem has inspired the format for many modern day poems, like this.

This is mine, which I should have left on the Free Food box at a traveller's accommodation in Queenstown.
This is just to say
that i have taken the jar
of Marmite that was left
in the Free Food box
which I am sure you other
visitors to New Zealand
were so intent on trying
It's red, yellow and black labelling
was so appealing
and i needed some of the
velvetysavory paste
to protect me from sandflies
and anchor my stay in this
magnificient place
