I had a very early wake up call. Why, you say? Because today I am going to Canada!!!! Watch out men!
I am flying out from Atlanta to Minneapolis/St. Paul to meet up with Judith Mendez. Mendez? Do you know her.. you should. One of the most fabulous women I know. We met about 3 years ago working together out at St. Francis Medical Center out in Oahu. We have kept in touch for the past few years. I have tried to convince her to return to Hawaii, unfortunately it didn't happen. A true traveler at heart, she has traversing the country much less the world.
She met me at the airport in Minneapolis and we began our six hour journey north to Ontario. We had plenty of time to catch up. The best part about it... I wasn't driving!!!! I mean after 2.5 weeks and 5000 miles across the mainland, I was more than happy to sit the passenger seat.
We took Rt. 35 towards Duluth!!! Great city Duluth! Then we continued along scenic route 61. This road skirts Lake Superior, providing for ample photographic opportunities.
WE stopped at one of many coffee shops along the way. Literally there were alot.... I guess in the middle of winter at 40 below you need your coffee.
Unfortunately, after such a long drive you get a little hungry... so we were on a mission to find sun chips. Move over Harold and Kumar... We stopped at several gas stations, convenience stores, liquor stores... NO SUN CHIPS. Come on Minnesota, a girl needs her Sun chips. Finally in the small quaint town of Grand Marais, you guessed it we completed our mission. They had Sun Chips!!!
