(Tom) After waking up in Galena, IL and having breakfast, Darren and I went to play minigolf while Mom and Dad got ready to leave. Darren and I were back within 5-10 minutes.  The golf course wasn't open until 10 o’clock.  Mom and Dad were all ready to go at 10:30 so we were off to Milwaukee.  The long ride wasn’t as long as it was to Field of Dreams yesterday.  We got to Kristen’s at 2:45.  Mom and Kristen had their "reunion" and we met everyone.  For the first few minutes, we just stood in the hallway and talked, and then the guests got a little tour of the kid’s bedrooms and of downstairs. I guess Sara (4) likes pink, Maya (8) likes ladybugs, and Noah (9) likes sports.  That’s what I picked out of their rooms.  After our little tour we had some chips.  The kids went down and played some Wii while the parents got to know each other more.  Maya was very attached to me and following me around the house.  What I also figured out was that Sara is a pincher and loves to tackle.  Why do kids like to pinch me?  Mom asked Sara if I wanted to read her a book.  She went and picked out her favorite book, Franklin Gets Lost, and I read her the whole thing.  Then she went and got another book.  I was a page into it when she got in front of me and slammed the book shut.  She went to get another book and she did the same thing.  This went on for another 10-12 books.

It was finally dinner!  Right now, apparently, the corn is the best in Wisconsin so everyone had an ear of delicious corn.  What was with that was a hamburger, a hot dog, or a bratwurst.  I tried a little piece of a bratwurst and I thought it was okay.  I chose a hamburger though.  There was also a choice of a few fruits that could go with it.  After dinner, and some more tackling, we started out for the Brewers game.  Sara and Maya stayed at the house with Grandma.  The gang for the game was Matt (Kristen’s husband), Kristen, Noah, Jana, Kevin, Darren, and Tom.  Our seats were in the second deck right behind home plate.  They were awesome seats.  The pitchers for each team were Ian Kennedy for Arizona, and Chris Narveson for Milwaukee.  Ryan Braun and Corey Hart weren’t in the starting lineup.  The game started out quick with Arizona scoring in the top of the 1st with only one man out.  In the bottom of the 1st, Prince Fielder knocked in Craig Counsell and it was tied up.  There was nothing in the top of the 2nd but in the bottom of the 2nd, Cain scored on a wild pitch.  Ian Kennedy hit two batters in the inning.  He didn’t even get a warning when he hit another one in the 3rd.  With the score 2-1 MIL, in the top of the third, the Diamondbacks center fielder Chris Young hit a solo home run to tie it up.  In the bottom of the 3rd, Joe Inglett hit a sacrifice fly and Prince Fielder scored.  Two batters later, the pitcher Chris Narveson hit a single to score Cain.  Nothing happened in the fourth.

We went to the kid’s zone out in right field.  Matt stayed in the seats to watch the game (this will be important to know coming up).  First we did the racing sausages, you pedaled bike pedals against other kids and the faster you pedaled, the faster your sausage went.  We missed the fifth inning doing that but nobody scored.  There was a nice catch in left-center field by Joe Inglett.  The top of the sixth was devoted to a cage where you pitch and it shows your speed on the radar gun.  Noah hit 40, I had 45, and Darren had 48!  We raced down the baseline against Corey Hart in the bottom of the sixth.  They did Miller Park’s famous Racing Sausages in the middle of the sixth instead of during the seventh inning stretch.  We sort of got to see them go.  We were in line for the racing when Kristen heard them announce it.  We got to see most of the race and we saw Bratwurst win.  We raced against Corey Hart after watching the running beef.  Normally a fake Corey Hart would zip across a runway to the base.  It didn’t when we were there.  We all beat Corey Hart’s time though.

Arizona scored on a string of hits in the top of the 6th to make it a 4-3 game.  In the top of the seventh, we started heading back to our seats.  On the TV when we started back, we saw Cain make a great catch in deep left-center field.  We got back just in time for the seventh inning stretch.  Apparently, Chris Young, who got the homer in the third, hit a foul ball back behind where we were sitting, it went off of the scoreboard, someone deflected it and it landed right on Matt’s seat!  We were all surprised because he built the suspense until there was one out in the bottom of the 7th to tell Noah and showed him the ball!  Can you believe it happened while we were away from our seats!

No one scored in the 7th or the 8th.  In the ninth, the Brewers brought in John Axford to try to close it out in the 9th but he let up a run on two hits and a walk.  It was tied up and it went into extra innings.  In the top of the 10th, Trevor Hoffman came in and he gave up three runs after he got the first out of the inning.  In the bottom of the 10th, it was bases loaded with no one out and Casey McGehee was up.  He got out.  Cain struck out.  Bases loaded with two out and Joe Inglett grounded out to end the game.  It was a great game but the Brewers lost in ten innings 7-4.  That was game one of a four game series and game four was going to be on the same day that Boston and Toronto play.  I hope that Boston wins in that game.  We got back and Mom and Darren slept inside the house and Dad and I slept in the RV.

170.8 miles, avg. speed 51.3 mph, travel time 3:19, stopped time 0:56, total miles for trip 7,248

It's hard to believe that almost four weeks have gone by since you left on your cross country adventure. And what a great trip you are having. Lots of memories for all of you. See you soon.

If you say at which Wal-Mart will be your campground in NH, maybe we'll go shopping.

Tom's recap was based on some notes he took at the game and by memory. Given the number of players on the disable list, we will be seeing many future Red Sox players at the Toronto game tomorrow. Have Fun!
