! Those weren't his actual words; I just made it scarier for the younger ones! We could see that they had a light on in the front of the house. We didn’t get to make it to Ford’s Theatre. I think it would’ve been too hot in there anyway, unless they had AC. Oh, I forgot. The man that came to fix our AC did his job. The temperature when we got back to the RV was 79 degrees. At least that’s better than 99! Well, I’m done with this entry. The next one will either be from Louisville or St. Louis. I hope everything is going well back home. See you all later, maybe!
(Jana) First time I’ve read the blog and just wanted to let everyone know that we ARE having fun. Yes, we’ve had our share of issues, but what do we expect, we’re the Hanscoms! AC seems to be fixed and after we finish our blueberry pancake breakfast in the RV, we’re headed for Indiana. Yes, Washington was hot, but we saw a lot in just 1½ days. Hope all is well back at home. Love you all!
(Tom) Day 2 in DC started with waking up in a freezing 73 degrees. Once we took the bus and subway into the city, we went straight to the Capitol Building. After waiting 10-15 minutes in line, we got to take a 1.5 hour tour that really only took us into two or three rooms. We went into the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum to get lunch. We did look around a little bit and ride a simulator ride before we walked over to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. We watched an IMAX movie in the museum. It was called Dinosaurs 3D. I thought it was pretty good. It would jump you a few times though! Once we looked around at all we could in 1.5-2 hours, we walked a long way to the White House Visitor Center to find out that it was closed. We did get to be the closest that anyone could be to the White House. From where we were, Dad pointed out the Secret Service men looking through telescopes on top of the house. They had machine guns and Kevin told us boys that if we jumped over the fence and started sprinting towards the house, they would shoot us dead
