We arrived in Valdivia after a smooth bus trip through the snowy mountains and a smooth border crossing. At the bus station we decided to go and check out one ladies accomodation - Im not quite sure why she seemed so shocked when we decided against it as it was next to a major demolition sight with jack hammers, bulldozers and the works! Bags not! We ended up finding a place and ventured to a very artsy cafe up the road for dinner. Had a great miso soup and was awesome to have some vegetables again!
The next day we spent checking out the amazing fish markets which Valdivia is known for. There was stacks of fresh fish of every description and it was fascinating watching the scraps be thrown to the huge sealions basking out the back of the market in the sun - the sheer size of them indicated that they had a pretty good life there! We picked up some fresh smoked salmon, lemons, avocado´s and were having a lovely snack in the sun by the river when we were shocked by a man who was robbed right in front of our eyes
So we went and grabbed a hard drive at the electrical shop and spent the afternoon sorting out our photo´s for safe keeping. Off to Puno in the morning - apparently it is Chile´s adrenalin capital, so we will have to check it out!

Fish markets
! A warning to us to remain careful in our last few days in South America. The guy who ran past and snatched a poor mans phone with a smile on his face - could have just as easily grabbed the camera which I had only just taken a shot of Paul moments before, scary with all our photo´s on it!
