Day 33 - October 19

We were expecting a boring day when the book told us that most of the ride would be along farms and fields, but we actually had more fun than you would think riding along the strawberries, artechokes, brusselsprouts, and lettuce.  It probably won't surprise anyone that we managed to sneak a few strawberries just to taste test along the way.  We picked up an artechoke too...the only problem is we have to figure out how to eat it now - that should be the fun part.

Along the way, we stopped to watch sea lions on a many sea lions.  It was the coolest thing and I took enough video of them so i can watch it all the time.  We saw sea otters and more harbor seals in the bay that we were at too.  I also managed to fall off my bike(in slow motion of course) while we were at the sea lion dock.  Brian did manage to ask me if i was ok, but after that he just laughed

Groccery Outlet still exsists here in central CA and we still love it!! Yeah for cheap grocceries today!!  I almost fell again before we left, but managed to catch myself and just let my bike go.  Lucky for me a nice old man, who couldn't even lift my bike up came literaly running to see if i was ok...and then he asked how we were going to cook an artechoke on a bicycle.

We were lucky to have a bike path pretty much as soon as there was any traffic today.  Brian learned not to acknowledge homeless people or they might threaten you.  We also got yelled at by a spandex cycling mama to put our helmets on.  May I mention that we were on a bike path riding less than 10 miles per hour.  Anywho she wore a scarf around her face which didn't seem to go with her outfit, but when getting a closer look at her, I'm pretty sure she was just protecting her newly done plastic surgery from the sun.  She really was relentless about our helmets though.  "People...put your helmets on."  She asked if we knew about the California law and we told her we have to wear a helmet if your under 18.  She was scary.

We got into Monterey and found the bike shop.  We went in just to check it out and the man who was working offered to let us leave our stuff there so we could ride around and not have to worry about it.  We found some internet and are heading to camp after we finish.

Here's to a crazy California day. peace love bicycles
