Once we had our things gathered, and thrown in the back of the car again, we decided we were going to be in it for the long haul, and make it home in one straight shot. We figured why not with such and early start. I started my share of the drive over the Mackinac Bridge, and then Brian and I finally stopped for pasties in Mackinaw City. It was only about an hour later that we got a flat tire and were trying to explain to AAA where the heck we were on 75. They eventually found us and changed the tire, and then we headed to the next town to get not one...but two new tires. Brian and I took short naps and filled up on dum dum lollypops before leaving the garage and we were on our way again after only losing somewhere around 3? hours of driving....but we were still going to make it!
I am proud to say that I drove the entire "hand" of Michigan. We switched when we got to Ohio and ate dinner. There wasn't much to the night drive...we took a few stops to nap...one where we ended up spending 4 hours there and just kept inching our way forward. you know...a few coffee stops, some loud pop music...we made it, no problem!!
We finally got home around 9 this morning and the last hour of the drive was probably one of the longest. I was so excited to see my mom and it's really good to be home. We spent 29 hours on the road the last day...what can we say we wanted to finish big!
**QUOTES OF THE DAY**
"oatmeal is the key to happiness" said brian outside a gas station in Marquette at 4 am as we ate 6 pkts of oatmeal out of the camp pot.
"worry in your mind" said brian to hannah as she nicely and politely asked him to drive with more caution as he violently veered off the road onto the rumble strips while driving on the delicate spare tire.
**brian still claims he wasn't even close to driving on the rumble strips**
