We arrived at the Warsaw airport really early Tuesday morning (3 am our time, 9 am local time). We managed to get out of the airport without so much as a word to anyone, and no security to speak of. We got hassled by cabbies as soon as we got into the arrivals area.

There's pretty much one reliable taxi company here, called "radio taxi". They've got big signs on them and it's pretty obvious which ones they are. The other taxis have little tiny signs that say "taxi" on them, and we have been warned not to take these ones. We had also been told not to get a taxi from out front, but to call for one. Having no phone, no change and no phone number, and being completely without sleep and therefore a little out of it, we decided not to call for one. Several men approached us, asking us where we needed to go. The first guy said he was radio taxi, but he also said he was 'with the airport' which was an obvious lie. Another cabbie said he was with radio taxi and proceeded to take us to his car, which was clearly not radio taxi so we said no, we aren't going with you, we want radio taxi. "oh yes, this is radio taxi, official taxi, come with me"... Anyway, we eventually did find radio taxi, which was a third the price that the first guy was going to charge us.

So we got to the old town where Greg was going to get his citizenship application processed before heading to the train station. Unfortunately there's other stuff he needs to do before they'll accept the application, but we were both glad to get a chance to see the old town, which is completely different from the parts of the city we'd seen so far. Warsaw was destroyed during WWII but the old town was completely rebuilt as it had been before. We will definitely have to return to check it out when we don't have all our stuff (cobblestone kind of defeats the purpose of rolling luggage).
