This morning i sorted my bank out thank god then i got the ferry to Waiheke Island which takes about 35 minutes. In Waiheke i did a bus tour which was really interesting.
Waiheke is really nice, it used to be where the hippies and 'eccentrics' lived in the 60s but now property prices have shot up and the hippies are now the tour bus drivers. As a result of their history though it's a really tolerant and accepting place apparently.
Things we did in Waiheke
Went to the beach.
Went to Oneroa beach.
Saw horses for the first time in 2 weeks...i'm getting withdrawal symptoms. There was a really nice dun as well.
Drove past Woolworths :-p
Saw nudy beach...(real name being small palm beach or something.)
Saw a gay rooster colony...as you do.
Saw loads of pukeko.
Saw a rich lotto winner on the beach. He left Waiheke to travel around New Zealand for a year to see where he wanted to live and he ended up back in Waiheke. Then he won the lotto and now owns about 5 propertys by the beach.
Saw loads of Vineyards and olive groves. He said that they rely on backpackers to do the work there because they don't have enough local labour.
For the benefit of Matt i saw sheep and an alpaca farm.
Tomorrow i'm off to the Bay Of Islands. Have to get up at about 6...fun.
