Yesterday morning i went to the Sky Tower and i got student discount even though i wasn't supposed to. The Sky Tower is the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere at 328 metres. I paid the extra to go right up to the sky deck which was cool, you can see for miles. Also the guy operating the lifts took us to see the platform where they do the sky jump from, he said they don't normally take people there but he did for us because there was only 6 of us there.
After that i got the shuttle bus from Sky City to Kelly Tarlton's Antarctic Encounter/ Underwater World. You go through a recreation of Captain Scott's Antarctic hut before boarding a snowcat for a ride past the penguins and you go through one of them spinning tunnel things that make you feel like you're going upside down, like the ones at Alton Towers. After that you come out at the stingrays before going through a glass tunnel walkway to see sharks etc before finishing at the fish tanks
They also had a giant squid and this machine thing that demonstrated how strong their suckers are and let's just say you wouldn't want to meet one of them. It was as big as a person.
Useless fact for the Florida freaks among us...some of the penguins at Kelly Tarlton's were raised at Seaworld in Florida.
Yesterday afternoon i got lost for the first time, in fact i got lost twice in about 5 minutes but finding your way back is easy because you just look for the Sky Tower (which you can see from Queen Street, i don't know how i missed it on the first day i must have been really jetlagged.) Don't know what happened down Queen Street yesterday but there was about 2 ambulances and 8 fire engines down there.
I think that's about it for now. Not sure what i'm doing today, it looks very cold and grey outside, pretty much like everyday actually.
Miss you all.
