Afrter partying in Rio, we took a bus ride that was meant to take 2 hours but actually took 4 and a half due to crazy road works. (it was fine for Justin and me as we slept but poor julia couldnīt sleep so she really had the full slow pace experience) We caught a boat over to Ilha Grande. This place is beautiful. It has a wee wharf and cobble stoned streets and old buildings, there are no cars on the island and they have these bars and restaurants where the tables are right on the sand and the waves go under your feet not to mention the beautiful bays and beaches.
The place we fisrt stayed was set in the rainforest and had a real chilled out vibe with hammocks everywhere.
On one of the days we did this boat and snorkel cruise into some of the bays round the island, which was really cool just jumping out of the boat and snorkeling round the edge of the island. Heaps of fish and corals, but the best bit was after the first bay we were cruising along and saw a pod af about 20-30 bottlenosed dolphins swimming round the boats and diving and stuff. It was really cool. We watched them for ages, the other days we just swam and lazed round the beaches.
After the 2nd night we went to another hostel and the lady there was really cool she made these mean as home cooked brazilan dinners. The people staying there were really cool and we had a massize hostel game of circle of death before trekking to another place for a party.
On the last day we did a bush walk that nearly killed us over to Lopes Mendes beach, which is one of Brazils best beaches. The water is aqua clear and the sand like powder. It has massive waves there too which was fun but we also saw this asian man nearly drown, he got caught in a rip and was getting pulled out fast so Justin got a life guard and I helped the lady and  the lifegaurd went and got the man. Was pretty nuts cus there was only 1 lifeguard and all he had was flippers, theres no flags or boards or anything. When you walk to and from the beach there are these little wild monkeys in the trees which are really cute and we saw hummingbirds too.
It has been great having 2 straight weeks of beachy days and we are now sporting some mean tans but today we flew inland to Campo Grande which is where we will do a Pantanal tour. The Pantanal are these massive wetlands with heaps of birds, crocs, anacondas and lots of mozzies for Justin!

Love and beautiful beaches
