The flight over was quite uneventful took about 22 hours flying which was less than we expected which was good! The place we are staying is nice, Very cleana nd has great breakfasts, the owner a guy named Newton is pretty sweet, everyone staying here is actually Brazilian - they have all come into work in the area, but I think they are all leaving today and more people comming in for Carnvale!
Rio is awsome!!! We love everything about it!! The sunny days - the first day here was about 40 degrees, but the other days around 30-35 i think, the kind people - everyone has been really friendly and patient with our lack of portugese-(but we are improving) and we feel really safe during the days and at nights aswell, The beaches - the beaches are beautiful, have spent time at Copacabana everyday and yesterday spent the whole day at Ipnaema, they hire out these beach umbrellas and little deck chairs and set them up along the beach, so for the whole day it was 13 reals! about ($8). Also they have these people walking along the beach selling things, beers, icecreams, clothes, jewlry, drinks, chips, food - including these shrimps kebabs which we think are food poisoning on a stick because they arn't kept cold and walk round all day in the sun selling them..haha. But aside form those everything else is sweet, So you do not need to leave your spot all day except to walk down to the water to swim.. One thing that needs to be mentioned along with the ladies of all sizes in their G string bikinis, is the men also of all sizes that strut round in their trunks! They wear these little tighties (so it does not leave much too the imagination) with their bellys hanging out, you might say fair enough they are at the beach, but no they wear them jogging along the road, shopping in the streets (4 blocks form the beach), strolling the markets and at restraunts! Its hillarous and has been the source of alot of amusment! I will publish a few photos but they are ilusiove beasts and by the time we dig through the bag find we have missed a great kodak moment of them in action.
On our first day we went on a tour of the city we went to Tijuca National Park - the worlds largest urban national park, we went up to Christ Redeemer (big jesus statue) which was acutually pretty massive its like 30 m high and 28 metres wide, It was awsome, was busy but was told we had a fairly quiet day which was good. Also went through Santa Tereza a little Bohemium town with all these really cute houses (its all really colonial you can see the portugese and french influence - rio is about 500 years old and you can tell that) We saw the favelas, they just go on for ages, Its kinda undescribeable (we have decided not to do a tour of them, as we feel its like we are looking at them like monkeys, when they are just going about their daily lives). ALos on the tour we went to Selaon Stairway in a little neighbourhood called Lapa a man has tiled all these stairs with times from aorudn the world, It goes up and up and there were a few Aus and NZ tiles too. They have no Samoan ones, So Jstin want to send one in and he will put it up.
Caprihinis are our drink of choice 3 reals and its suagarcane rum with crushed limes and ice!! yum. The food is great too, we havn't been sick or anything and are enjoying it all.
Justin had a nice Birthday yesterday beach and beers! We are going up to sugar loaf today which is cables cars that go up and look over the city.

Love and trunks
