So we arrived in Cusco at some ridiculous time of the morning again, so after some sleep we set off to explore......Didnīt get up to much the first day, just looked into trips into the jungle, sorted out our inca trail and checked out the irish bar...ok I know its bad but sometimes you just want something easy!
Unfortunately that night I got a touch of the altitude sickness, which put paid to our sacred valley plans for the next day...The next day I slept most of the day while the boys checked out some museums and got some culture!
The next day I felt better so we set out to see some of the inca sites not far from Cusco. We started at the far one, about 8km out of town, whihc was nothing to see really - an old water fountain with not much left...We walked all the way back to town stopping off at several other sites, the best of which was the last one, Sacsayhuaman, where massive stone blocks have been smoothed and fitted together the way only the incas know how...a very impressive site, which of course would be more so had the spanish not taken away a lot of the blocks for thier colonial buildings, including the cathedral in town!
The last day in Cusco we spent doing nothing at all in preparation for the inca trail to come!
