The theme of this week has been Annie's most quoted line- "It's Australia" and sometimes it varies to "Of course- we're in Australia." This seems to be the response to most things that I say- and maybe just because I was used to being in Asia. I ask- can I drink the water here? will this towel dry in the next 10 minutes? Is it okay that I'm only wearing my bikini into the coffeeshop? I don't have to wear shoes? These are just a few of the questions that elicit this response. Now I have begun repeating this line, and just loving the attitude.
The weekend was great- very relaxing and fun. Spent Saturday wine tasting with Annie in the wonderful Swan Valley. It was a beautiful day, beautiful drive, and nice wines. Annie laughed a lot at me because I told her when you wine taste you have to pretend you know what you're talking about. She especially liked when I slowly sipped the wine, nodded my head, and commented "It's quite oaky, isn't it?" (Come on I got something out of watching the movie Sideways).
That evening Annie had lots and lots of her friends over to meet one of the Robinsons from Washington DC that they had heard many stories about. It was a lot of fun and we went out and had quite a night on the town.
We started Sunday at the beach to rejuvenate from the night before and the ocean was as amazing as ever. I went over to Annie's in laws for a barbeque and spent the day by the pool, eating great food, and watching Australian football. Annie took me for a drive up on the hills last night where there were great views of the city.
Today I'm biking around- feeling the need for some exercise. But it's stinkin hot out there- probably over 100 degrees- so even though I've already been to the ocean once today- I think I'm headed back that way.
