Genoa and the boat to Sicily

so today we drove to Genoa to catch our ferry and spent the afternoon there. WOW, gorgeous city, an unexpected gem, we went for lunch (ok im really sorry but our trip does revolve around food), lovely lunch followed by a few hours strolling rounf Genoa, the port and th historic centre, lovely stuff...so we decided to get the car and try and leave a little earlier for the ferry, bloody good job because we could see the ferry terminal but we could not get to it for the life of us, the italians do not like road signs, we felt like we were on the italian job and went round in so many circles (the griswalds basically), anyway we finally got to the ship which was absolulety brilliant and huge, we had a seat each and spent the eveing exploring th eship which was like a cruise boat!

today was spent sunning it up on top deck with the ttally unexpected hot tubs and swimming pool, really lovely day. Arrived in Palermo, Sicily. Here, we drove around and around and around the city in the search of a sign for the autostrade, it.s as if we were the only ones coming off hte boat, an hour later we managed to find the motorway and later read in our book that driving round palermo is a death wish...oh well we.re here t tell the story! found campsite fine,saw the lava coming down etna in the dark which was amazing ad set up camp for the night, gorgeous island.
