Where I stayed
. The kids went to bed, with red rimmed eyes from the swimming and the culmination of 5 days of play from sun-up to sunrise, and the grown-ups rallied from their margarita fogs for one more round of Settlers of Catan; this was going to be the game to settle the score, or leave it tied at the top if Jess or Sara managed to pull one out of the bag. Well, it was a hard fought game that lasted for over two hours, but at the end of the night and the conclusion of our time together we had an overall winner. Sara was still on 0, Jess was still on 0, Brett was on 2 wins and Tim on 3!!!!! Anyone who knows Tim is probably aware that he is slightly competitive and may not even be surprised to hear this result. He would like to take this opportunity to thank his competitors for the many games, their efforts and fair play and........
We all went to bed tired, and some of us, more satisfied than others!
Today was bittersweet as it was our last day with the Shifrins and our time in Maine was drawing to a close. Besides, we needed to start thinking about things like getting the kids to the Doctor so they could enrol in school, setting up our apartment and, in general, beginning the process of readying ourselves to get back into a routine and starting school and work!!!! Therefore, what better way to enjoy our final day then to pack up the car and head back down to Dummers Beach for the day. The kids swam, the grown-ups relaxed and chatted, the Dads played 'Monkey in the Middle' with the kids, we ate a picnic lunch......All in all a perfect way to bring our time together to a close. This was wrapped up nicely by stopping for a giant ice cream at the Weld General Store and we all sat on the front porch while we licked and gnawed our way through the afternoon treat. We then went back to the house and for our final dinner together we had margaritas, and tacos with homemade tortillas (thanks again Brett for the fresh bread)
