What I did
Nike Factory Store
Too soon, we had to pull ourselves away in order to catch up with an old friend of Tim's from high school. A lovely evening was had by all and it was off to bed in order to tackle the task of reloading Odie in the morning so that we could head on up to Olympic National Park on our way to Vancouver, Canada and a week there with our family.
After our lovely dinner the night before, we had a nice sleep-in and didn't seem in any rush to get up and get going in the morning. This was also due to the rain outside which was fairly substantial and we were enjoying the benefit of an actual roof over our heads. However, mustering our resolve and desire to find a bargain and another home-cooked meal (yes, we had been invited back by our friends Bet and Deb for a second meal in two days) we headed out for the brief walk to Odie in the rain and went into Portland in search of the Nike Factory store. The kids and Tim all got brand new Nike sneakers for less than it would have cost to buy one pair of kids sneakers in New Zealand. With the kids sporting extra bright and white shoes we arrived back to another stunning meal. We had sliders (little mini cheeseburgers) sweet potato fries, all sorts of fresh vegetables and lots of good wine and nibbles to keep us completely overwhelmed and satiated with food and company.
