Well, this was probably only the second day since we left New Zealand where the entire plan consisted of little to nothing.
We spent the first part of the morning in our hotel room, writing emails, watching tv and eating a large three course breakfast. Then, while Tim went and took Odie for her second oil change, a vacuum and a car wash, Jess and Lily did some Laundry while Eli played with all of his new Lego.
We had fresh bagels that Tim brought back with him for lunch and then headed out to do some errands. Jess and Lily went to the Post Office (major excitement that one) and Tim and Eli went to Mastercuts for a severely overdue hairrcut and tidy-up. We then made the 5 minute drive to Trader Joe's where we bought enough food and supplies for the next several days of camping and came back to the hotel. Dinner and a preliminary pack of the car tonight is all that remains of this (tongue in cheek here) very, very busy and full day.
Oh yes, we also managed to spend some time today and yesterday catching up with various people on Skype and the telephone. Despite this casual and relaxing sounding day, the four nights we have spent here in San Diego were (as it has turned out) very necessary. The sniffly noses are just about dried up, the clothes are clean and as a family unit, we are, overall, in better, more rested and generally better nick than when we rolled in four nights ago. This has also coincided with the halfway point of our trip, both in time spent camping and travelling and in Geography as we started in the top right and are now in the bottom left. So there is no better time for a reload and recharge. Now we head up the West Coast and across the top half of the states to see what other adventures still remain!
