Today was close to a 'final' outfitting of the Odyssey for the Odyssey. Now that we have had our car for a couple of days and have had the chance to take it on the road, we discovered a few minor changes and additions that were required to turn it into the ultimate "road trip" vehicle.
Fortunately, at Gramma's house we are close to a range of stores and outlets that provide for all of our needs. We purchased things like folding chairs for the tent, a tablecloth for our table, citronella candles, cutlery, mugs and cups, etc....
However, by far the most exciting additions were in and on the car itself.
We put on our New Zealand bumper sticker!
I attached to the dashboard a three pronged cigarette lighter console, one for recharging phones and computer, one for a radio transmitter to play our music through the stereo and one for "Bob"!
Who is Bob, you may ask? Bob is our newly purchased GPS unit. After much discussion and debate we decided on calling him Bob. It was the only name that we all agreed upon and was suggested by Eli. Originally we had decided against getting a GPS, but after borrowing one for the drive to Maine we decided we couldn't live without one! This is simply because of a feature that predicts your arrival time to the minute. This precluded the need for the children in the back seat to say (over and over and over and over and over and......) "Are we there yet?" This is a priceless feature and we were willing to pay money just for that feature alone!!

The car is pretty well sorted and tomorrow we are off to a wedding in Vermont. Four sleeps to go until we are sleeping in our tent and living on the road!!!

Loving the blog. Cracked up about Bob's priceless feature - don't we all need one of those then! Intrigued by the range of breakfast options being sampled by the Heidmanns. Great photos - especially the bridges, which reminded me of "Bridges of Madison County".
Kids going to comment separately. A day of football ahead for us here.
