Today we headed off to Hilo to enjoy the farmers' market and made some stops along the way.
Elizabeth and Andrew joined us for our adventures today.
Our first stop was in Honakaa at Tex Mex for our hot Malasadas (they are hot donuts - Hawaiian style), off then to Kowee falls and a stroll in the Botanical gardens which were very beautiful.
A stop at Akaka village for traditional shave ice was next.
Hilo was a next stop and a walk down memory lane in Hilo as we enjoyed the sights and smells of the Hilo farmers market and the kids bought a item each to remember Hawaii...
Rambutan and Lychees were a must to buy; our old favourites (these are small fruits).
The kids loved the market, enjoying the all the things on offer and the amazing variety of vege and fruits.
After lunch we headed to to the Liliuokolani Park which is a special place for myself and Tim where the little red bridge goes over a pond. This is where we got married.
After a busy day we headed to the beach out of Hilo and then home for tacos, beers and burritos at a little restaurant in Waimea. The special beer was brewed on the premises with Kona coffee and toasted coconut, much tastier than it sounds.
We got out the Muppet movie on DVD and watched it with the kids, a real extended family movie night.
