To "The Cities"

In our ever-changing plans, we felt the need to give the Hopkins relatives a little extra time to decompress after returning from Florida the day before, we saw that my (Corcoran) cousin Mark Mastro and girlfriend's home was en route, called them and invited ourselves.

They were home and up for company so we took a quick detour to Golden Valley, Minnesota.  Our traveling companion "Gar" took us straight to there... (God knows the GPS is an invention that has likely saved marriages and I would not lie about this...)

It was also a bit odd to hear "Gar" tell us to turn on to Knoll Avenue to get to their house!  (Not a big deal I guess if your name is "Main" or "Center"  or "River.")  Anyway, they live on a cul de sac that gave us planty of room to park --- always a consideration these days!

There was homemade soup on the stove that Mark was inventing. We got the tour of their home and I knew the artwork hanging very well as there were paintings and prints in every room that Mark's Dad, my God-Father, Ron Mastros had painted.  I should give some equal time to my incredibly awesome God-Mother Pat(ricia) Mastro but I'll save that for a good segue.

Mark is a very funny guy and had us going the first few minutes we were there.  Mary allowed as how the Corcoran Clan can be a bit (!!!!!) overwhelming but she's getting used to it.

We had been trying to reach Mark's twin sister Maria, also VERY FUNNY, for a while so I wondered if I had the right numbers for her. Turns our she had arrived home from work the other day and the entire fire department and police department from her town were in her building... had chopped down her door and that of several of her neighbors looking for a reported fire... So Maria was a bit behind the eightball in trying to get her cats and home secure again.  My phone conversations with her were a scream, and really bummed me out that we were not likely going to be able to get together. Even in her difficult situations she was crackin' me up!

We didn't dally because Mark & Mary said they would make time to join us in the next few days.  We were back on the road to Hopkins, my Mother's home town.
