The first couple of days were cloudy,

The first 2 days of trekking were along the Everest base camp trail so a little crowded. Once we peeled off that route, we had the trail almost to ourselves. We passed some amazing glacier lakes on the way to Gokyo.

Gokyo Ri is 18,000 feet and has spectacular views of Everest. Standing on the top there are snow covered mountains in all directions--beautiful!

After we climbed Gokyo it started snowing every night so I finally got winter this year!

There were monasteries to visit along the way, this one is Tengboche with Ama Dablam in the background, also some prayers etched in stone by one of many stupas along the trail.

We were living in tents, camping outside teahouses. Every morning I was woken up with a cup of Nepalese chai tea.

We had an amazing chef. On 3 propane burners he managed to make pizzas, momos, curries, cinnamon rolls, peanut butter cookies, he even baked me a birthday cake!

My favorite morning, crawling out of my tent to brush my teeth and this was my view--Everst also trying to wake up.
