Spent the day sightseeing in and around Kandy. Went Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage where there were 70+ elephants of all ages. Got to see them playing in the river.

Visited Peradeniya Botanical Garden with colorful trees, bats hanging from trees and a little "Discovery Channel" action to keep things lively!

Sri Daladag Maligawa, or Temple of the Tooth, is where the sacred tooth of Buddha is kept. Story goes that it was taken from the funeral pyre in 543BC, since then it has been smuggled, stolen, and hidden all throughout Sri Lanka and India. Now they keep it in this temple. You can't actually see it, so some think it is more of a myth.
Also wandered around the town which had a lovely little lake in the middle and a nice viewpoint for sunset.

The next day I drove through tea plantations on the way to Nuwara Eliya. The tree leaves are brilliant green and it was one rolling hill after another of vibrant green color, beautiful!! Went into a tea plantation and saw how the tea is made. Also got to see a couple of waterfalls.
