I flew into Belize City and then took a water taxi out to Caye Caulker.

This is the most laid back place you could ever hope for. The only motorized vehicle I saw on the island the whole week was the beer delivery pickup truck. I hung out with some cool guys. Max, my dive partner, Ray and Walter. The bar you see in the background of this picture is the Lazy Lizard--the best place to hang out here in the afternoon and watch the sunset.

I came mostly for the diving and it was fantastic--wall dives with beautiful coral, eels, crabs, lobsters, sharks, and plenty of other wildlife. And of course Blue Hole was unique--a cave deep underwater. As you pass through the roof there are huge stalactites. You can't go much deeper than just below the roof of the cave because that is already at about 100 feet.

I had an amazing snorkeling day as well. Swam with manatee, sharks, sting rays, turtles, lobsters, crabs, and loads of fish.

On the snorkeling day I ate lunch at Ambergris Caye. It was a nice island, but much more built up and touristy. I'm very happy I chose to stay at Caye Caulker! The food was delicious, I ate seafood including a lot of those lobsters I was seeing underwater! The people here were incredibly friendly. After spending only a week here there were no strangers by the end. As I walked back to the pier to catch the water taxi back, every little snack shack/restaurant/bar that I walked past was calling out "Bye Michelle, hurry back!"
