I had arrived on a Tuesday night flight, and early Wednesday morning Tony and I would join his parents on the hour or so drive into Stockholm city, drop the rents off at work and take the car. For the next 4 days the car would be ours to drive 5 hour North West of Stockholm to the small village of Salen. Tony and his brother Fredrick had arranged for the 3 of us to stay 4 days 3 nights in a cabin at Tandadalen ski resort. This was my much anticipated "Snowboarding in Sweden Experience" and much planning had goon into this trip. Months before leaving the states I had compared the coast of renting gear in Sweden or just sending over my old stuff and making due with that. It had proved cheaper to send over my old board. And now awaiting me at Tony's house was my snowboard and all my gear. Ready to be taken out and ridden again, after a long 2-year break. But to my dismay, beside my board being slightly rusty, I too, was not performing and living up to my old snowboarding standards. Sure I had never been pro but I had felt comfortable considered my self a pretty self sufficient rider. But After 3 days of struggling up and down the mountain, I had one too many burses to show and wasn't feelin too hot about my skills up on the mountain. It was all in all a snowboarding experience like no other. I can defiantly say, the Californian slops having nothing on 'the wall' in Sweden. But maybe it was a bit tooooooo BEAUTIFUL. I may have been distracted Salens incredible winter wonderland appearance?
