We were given the royal tour of Peterborough and surrounding areas by Uncle Lozz. He is getting quite adept at showing us the local sites of Market Deeping, then on to Stamford with a turn at Burley house on the way back. It was a bit of a squash with 5 of us in a Peugot 206 but it wasn't for long. Once we got to Stamford, which is quite a lovely old town, only me & Clare went out for a wander. It's gone cold in the last few days, but Lozz, Eileen & co felt lazy so just sat in the car park. Stamford has buildings much older than any in NZ, and is quite a lovely spot. It was refreshing to be away from the constant crowds of London for a bit. It was also a chance for Clare to see a bit more of England, and see where this side of my heritage comes from. I always love catching up my my English family, and after a while we were all getting on fine, even if I only pop by every few years.
Today we explored the thriving metropolis of downtown Peterborough. Clare found 3 shops which needed a good half hour to comtemplate what to buy stuff in. The abundance of weird and wonderful gift idea type shops were to much for her to resist. I'm trying to built up a shopping tolerance, but after a while I just have to go outside and sit on a park bench despite it being about 1 degree above blimmin cold.
So tomorrow is the last day in London. More shopping beckons..
Anyone reading this who wants to meet for a drink, it looks like the Whitechapel gallery at 7pm.
