Have arrived in Paris. Just seems like any other city at this stage. Mind you arrived by TGV at 7.45 and caught taxi to my hotel. Spent a lovely day in Beaune today. Definitely a place I'd like to go back to. Visited the Hotel - Dieu which is a famous hospital that was established in 1443 and was nicknamed a "palace for the poor". Its quite amazing to see how so much of the original bits and pieces are all still there. The hospital ceased being operated in 1955 so it had been going a long time. After that cruised around the town and yes a stone fortress wall around the original town site with cobbled streets, narrow lanes and town clock. Had yummy lunch in town square then went on a wine tour south of Beaune. So different the way they grow their wines but of course only use the bottom third of the vine. The rest is just left to waste. No wonder French Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is so expensive plus it is still handpicked. Saw paddocks and paddocks of vines, bottles and barrels galore in the underground cellars. It was nice to be in a place away from the hustle and bustle.
