Porto to Barcelona

Every so often in a long trip you're bound to have someone get sick, especially when you are travelling with children.
For us, it came today. Maggie came down with some sort of stomach bug and was up all night losing fluid at both ends, poor thing. Of course, such events are sure to happen at the worst possible time - Murphy's Law. Today we start a complicated return to our own part of the world, with a flight from Porto to Barcelona, then connecting tomorrow with a flight to Singapore which connects to a flight to Bangkok where we pick up a car to take us to our next destination in Thailand.
So of course that's asking for trouble. I had planned to spend our last day in Portugal at an easy pace, maybe buying some port wine. Instead we spent it at no pace at all, holed up in our apartment waiting for Maggie to get better.
The trooper that she is, by 3pm she was well enough to get on the metro out to the airport to catch our clickair flight to Barcelona. Apart from a mishap at Sao Bento metro station she made it unscathed. As the night has gone on she has improved to the point where she has now eaten and had plenty of fluids so fingers crossed for the long haul flight tomorrow.
The flight from Porto to Barcelona was largely uneventful although it's amazing how many of the passengers had to move about the plane in a short one hour flight. When we reached the airport here in Barcelona we picked up our luggage, rang the Tryp Airport Hotel and caught the shuttle bus, ordered room service and crashed.
I've just checked in online and thought I may as well take advantage of the Internet connection and post a quick blog for today's events.
