First order of the day was a haircut for me. My hair was getting completely out of control so we found a hairdresser that seemed modern enough to do a good job. The girls went shopping and managed to spend the hour I was away within a 50 metre radius of the hairdressers. Georgie had found a jacket that she liked and took me back after the haircut to get my OK to buy it. It was a great buy for just 14 euros.
After this it was lunchtime, so we happened to be standing outside an Indian restaurant that we had been eyeing up so we indulged
With our bellies full, we wandered the streets of Lagos, looking in most of the shops and exploring most of the laneways about the town. We didn't buy a lot - 10 weeks on the road will make you a bit more selective in the handicrafts and souvenirs that you buy (have room for).
Because our lunch was late we went to a Chinese restaurant for dinner that advertised a terrace that looked out on the water. Unfortunately the lady at the restaurant told us that it was too cold to sit out on the terrace. We protested saying we didn't mind the cold, but she held firm. Who knows? Perhaps what she meant was that it was too cold for her to bring the food out to us. Whatever the reason, we were corralled inside next to the other two tables of patrons. Lucky we had ordered a tiny meal because the food was pretty lousy.
We got home to watch a bit more of the BBC. I have decided that the BBC is like an old friend. There is something warm and comfortable about it, the shows are friendly, the dramas are superb and on the satellite there is a new channel called BBC Three which has reruns of shows that have been on before which allowed us to catch an episode of Dr Who that we had missed and also to watch a show called 'The Baby Borrowers', which is not as macabre as it sounds - it is all about lending babies to teenagers so that they don't want to have some of their own too young. Jess and I have become hooked on this one so it is lucky that it airs at 10:30 at night or we would have to structure our holiday around it. Sadly we will move on in a couple of days so we will have separation anxiety.
