We made a stop on the way back down to Cairns at a pretty nice beach with a good shelter to cook under, although the weather was much better. We stopped breifly in Cairns for Calum and I to pick up our Passports, finally, and headed off inland towards the Atherton Tablelands. We had read that the 'Waterfall Circuit' as it is known, is a pretty cool way to spend a few days and we quite liked the sound of it. Our first stop was somewhere along the Gillies Highway, great driving through the tablelands landscape, very green and lush. We found a camp at the end of a really long dirt track, it was great, had taps and toilets and sheltered tables and there was one camper there. There are loads of these sights put in by the National Park Authorities, you are supposed to pay but it seems nobody does and it makes life a lot easier when you have a few facilities. The weather stayed good that night and the moon was almost full making it so light all night, we stayed up playing cards and drinking goon and scaring off these rat kangaroos who were trying to steal our food.
