We had heard that Queenstown Winter Festival started on Friday the 27th, the day we arrived. Basically Queenstown is packed, and alsorts of shows and bands and fireworks and crazy stuff like jumping in the lake goes on. The setting is beautiful, right on lake Wakatipu, with mountians rising up all around us. We met our friends Dave and Kaz, and a few other people they were with from Guildford, and after searching a bit, found some (expensive) accomodation, these prices will take a bit of getting used to.
Plenty to do here, will probably be here for the weekend at least, love to everyone, xxx
We went ice skating and generally got involved with the festivities. There were loads of parades and bands and crazy acitivites like people jumping in the lake and stuff. We took the gondola up the mountain behind the town where there is a luge track, downhill karting on tarmac tracks with no engines just brakes. Doing it as a group of 8 people was a fantastic laugh.
