We left in the morning travelling along the coast road to Punta del Diablo, a little surf town which we had heard is really cool. It also was pretty deserted, as we had expected, and was a really nice little town, there has been considerable development of the town but all in the form of little cabins and huts in different colours. They were all empty and boarded up and we barely saw anyone just a few fisherman, its clear these places are so dependant on tourism. We found a pub on the beach which had a sign saying open...all year. The guy showed us where we could stay, a little cabin just along the beach front, we got it for very little money. It was raining prtty hard, but we still went swimming and played pool with some locals, and then bought loads of wood and made a huge fire in our cabin and sat up drinking honey grappa (uruguay`s typical drink) and playing cards.
We walked along the coast onto the point the next morning and saw dolphins swimming just a few hundred metres out to sea.
Then we headed back along the coast towards Punta del Este, to spend one more night before taking the car back to Montevideo.
