We arrived back in Cusco at about 10 at night after getting the train back from Aguas Calientes and then a further 2 hour bus ride. Some guys who we met in Lima who we got on really well with (one of whom is the brother of Serena Bishop from Neighbours, its hilarious he looks just like her, just with a beard) were in our hostel so we stayed up for a few beers with them even though we were knackered, they wanted to know about the inca trail because they were doing it the next day.
Next day we realised our mates from Guildford (a group of 5) had emailed us but Marco, the muppet, forgot to tell us which hostel they were in, so we had to email them back and wait for a reply so unfortunately only saw them in the evening. We really wanted to do this bungee jump, in the hills just outside Cusco, some poeple had recommended it to us in our hostel. It is really cheap compared to doing it in Aus or NZ and prides itself on being the highest in the Americas. We couldnīt resist it. We turned up about 5pm and it was rally sunny and amazing views down to cusco, the Bungee jump itself is just a small metal cabin which gets winched up to 120m above the valley below and is suspended on cables from the surrounding hills. We turned up with Suzanne, a girl we met in Mexico City on our second day of travelling, shes on her gap year too and we met up in Loki Cusco. There wer just a few guys who worked there when we arrived, nop other jumpers so we didnt get to watch anyone else before we went up, which we had kind of hoped to do. After discussing who was going first for a while it ended up being me. I got on the scales and they said i weighed 120kg. The bloke picked them up and thumped them a few times and then it said i was 65kg and he seemed to think this was ok. So he tied me up by my ankles and then we got in the little metal box and we were winched up. It takes a while to get up and the guy was explaining to me what i should do in very wierd english but i understood in the end. You jump out in front with your arms out wide and free fall for 105m, was basically all you need to know. It was the scariest thing i have ever done but amazing, its a really unnatural thing to do, just fall towards the ground for 105m but it was a massive buzz. I would definately do it again.
