We arrived at lake Atitlan at the biggest town, Pana'. It looked nice and had loads of market stalls and stuff but we had heard that a smaller place just across the lake was a better place to stay. We caught a boat across which although the guy said it would take 20 minutes took an hour and 20 minutes, we sat at the front thinking we were in prime position but it turned out we got soaked. We stayed in a hotel in San Pedro which was really cheap but pretty nice too, it was good to have a room rather than a dorm for a change. We were still with Nick and Rachel at this point and we went out for some food and beers that night but were still pretty jaded from our last night in Antigua. We had been at a bar which had a private room at the back where a load of guys from our hostel ended up playing guitar and drinking this illegal mescal they sold till pretty late. The next day in San Pedro we hired kayaks. It was good fun but turned out to be about 4km across the lake to this little beach and back and Nick didnt quite manage it, he had to dump his kayak halfway, not that we knew, we were back the the bar looking across the lake trying to see him. He turned up about 5 minutes late in a tuk tuk which he had ran through some fields to find and was also reaally sunburnt which everyone apart from him found quite funny. My camera got wet and broke which sucked but i had uploaded most of my pics onto Rachels camera and i bought a replacement the same day. The lake is really pretty and the volcanoes around it are stunningly impressive.
